What size is a double bed in metric?

Its annoying me at this statge, i live in a country (Éire / Ireland) where we”re taught to ignore imperial messurments and use metric only but then i go looking to buy a double bed (standard in US?) its in imperial. so could anybody
give me an idea of the size width and length of a double bed in metric meters?

    the mattress size for the US Australia and the UK is

    imperial is 54” x 75”
    metric is 1.38 × 1.90 m
    (width × length)

    but in Europe the size is
    imperial is 55″ × 79″
    metric is 1.4 × 2 m

    The reason for the imperial measurements is because we are lamped in with the UK and they still use imperial far too much.
